Medical experts have been reporting findings that indicate wine in moderation is good for our health, and recent headlines in the New York Times proclaim the merits of the latest sensation sweeping the nation: wine and yoga.
Now, South Coast Winery Resort & Spa in Temecula, California, has announced that it will expand this concept by dedicating one day each month throughout the summer for a special Women’s Day of Wine, Wellness and Sensory Awareness.
Based on the feedback received from the Wine and Wellness Weekend held at the resort in March, the team at South Coast has created an ultimate sensory experience condensed into one 8-hour day.
“We set out to design a special signature day filled with sessions designed to delight the senses, tickle the palate and enhance the spirit. This truly is a day like none other,” claims Spa Director Kate Santarsieri.
Twenty women will reap the benefits of the day as the entire spa shuts down to accommodate the sessions. The day starts at 8:30 a.m. with a meet-and-greet reception, followed by two 50-minute yoga sessions.
Tea and Lite Bites, served poolside, will provide a mid-morning treat, as Chef Alessandro Serni spins his magic by serving up a variety of garden-fresh treats with specialty cheeses, all locally grown and produced.
Lunch is equally intriguing with succulent dishes like chilled roasted heirloom tomato soup with citrus jicama and radish; wild mushroom spiedino with sage oil; fresh Dover sole roulade with kalamata olive and pantelleria caper sauce; and lavender creme brule with an array of tropical fruits and wild berries.
The GrapeSeed Spa’s specialty facials and custom massages that have been specifically designed to expand participants’ sensory experiences and trigger renewal. Hydrotherapy facials erase stress lines and damage caused by environmental elements. Hot rose quartz and turquoise stones combine with a custom blend of rich essential oils and Swedish/lomi lomi massage techniques to instantly lower heart rates and induce a deeply relaxed state.
The resort reports lining up two dynamic yoga instructors and personal trainers for the day. They will be on site for the entire duration of the event to teach, nurture and coach participants to be all that they can be by combining the perfect mix of wine, food, yoga and spa treatments.
Space is limited for these Women’s Days of Wine, Wellness & Sensory Awareness. The resort has scheduled four sessions this summer: June 19, July 10, August 7 and September 4.
