Family Winery Names One of Its Own as President

Merryvale Vineyards has named Rene Schlatter as the winery’s new President.

Schlatter previously served as Executive Vice President, with the primary responsibility of overseeing national sales.

Former Merryvale President Peter Huwiler announced his resignation at the end of 2007 after serving in that capacity for more than 11 years. Huwiler plans to pursue other opportunities within the wine industry.

“It has been a pleasure to lead Merryvale over the past 11 years,” he said. “Much was accomplished, and now it is time for the next generation to take over the helm.”

The Schlatter family said it appreciated Huwiler’s leadership in the development of the Merryvale brand in national and international markets, and overseeing the construction of Starmont Winery, located on the Stanly Ranch in Napa, California.

Merryvale Vineyards is a family-owned Napa Valley winery dedicated to the craft of passionate winemaking, and the fine art of living well. It’s committed to sustainable farming practices and natural resource conservation, and has the good fortune of selecting the highest quality grapes from some of the very best vineyards in the Napa Valley for its wines.
