Attention, Chocolate Lovers!

    It’s hard to believe that nearly two decades have passed since I attended what turned out to be the 1st annual Wine & Chocolate Fantasy at Rodney Strong Vineyards in Healdsburg, Calif.

     What a decadent event that was! Fabulous chocolate creations paired with the wonderful Sonoma County wines of Rodney Strong.

     Oh, if only my metabolism were the same now as it was back then!

     But do not mourn for me. Instead, treat yourself to one of the most satisfying afternoons of your life by attending the 19th annual Wine & Chocolate Fantasy. It’s scheduled for Saturday, February 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Rodney Strong winery.

     Among the chocolatiers scheduled to attend (and offer samples) are:

     * Vintage Sweet Shops

     * Sonoma Toffee Works

     * Patisserie Angelica

     * Bert’s Desserts

     * Pacific Connection

     I could go on, but I’m getting a sugar rush just thinking about the whole thing.

     Speaking of edible delights, I hope you’ll set aside some time this coming weekend and try out one or both of the recipes we’ll be posting here. One is for Radicchio Risotto, and the other is a garlic-lover’s delight: Spaghettini Aglio Olio.

     I’ve made the Risotto many times before, and usually open up a bottle of California Zinfandel to enjoy with it. I tried the Spaghettini for the first time over this past weekend, and it, too, is phenomenal. However, I don’t recommend it for a first date.
