Sterling Vineyards Gives Back to the Local Community

Continuing its commitment to support important programs in the Napa Valley community, Sterling Vineyards announced that it has distributed $20,000 from its Stars & Vines Fund at the Napa Valley Community Foundation to the St. Helena Family Resource Center and the Calistoga Family Center. These grants are a direct result of funds generated from the winery’s annual Sterling Silver Screen Series.

“Being a strong partner and making a difference in our community is important to all the employees at Sterling Vineyards and Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines,” said Tom Scott, Senior Director of Communications. “We are proud that a program like the Sterling Silver Screen Series not only gets the support of local residents, but the proceeds raised at the event go to help deserving families in the area.”

Every summer, Sterling Vineyards hosts a number of outdoor movie screenings called the Sterling Silver Screen Series. Proceeds from these events are donated to the Napa Valley Community Foundation and subsequently distributed to local charities. In the past, these funds have helped provide education, training and housing for vineyard workers. Since the Sterling Silver Screen Series’ inception in 2003, the winery has donated more than $55,000 to the Napa Valley Community Foundation through the Stars & Vines Fund.

“We are proud to have a long-term partnership with Sterling Vineyards,” said Stephanie Snyder Parry, executive director of the Calistoga Family Center. “Through Sterling’s giving, we are able to help more than 200 families improve their economic status, which helps them provide healthy, happy lives for their children. We are grateful for Sterling’s commitment to children and families in our community.”

The Calistoga Family Center was created by a team of educators and community members who believed healthy families are the foundation of a strong community. The Calistoga Family Center serves as the heart of community services, directing six outreach divisions with more than 30 programs. The Center works collaboratively with community partners to improve family life. Calistoga Family Center envisions a vital Calistoga where every family has the support it needs to create happy, healthy and productive members of the community.

The St. Helena Family Resource Center provides local access to existing programs and services in Napa County. It is an agent for self-improvement and a hub for community building. This non-profit organization sponsors activities and develops programs that meet the interests and needs of children, teens, adults, families and seniors in St. Helena, Deer Park, Angwin, Pope Valley, Rutherford and Oakville. It offers classes for parent education, early childhood development, family literacy and peer-to-peer support groups for teens. To help individuals and families attain economic stability, the St. Helena Family Resource Center conducts basic finance classes, provides income tax assistance and participates in 2-for-1 savings programs.

“Local community and business leaders have seen Sterling’s commitment to this valley and have stepped forward to lend their hands in this effort,” says St. Helena Family Center executive director Dan Melligan. “We appreciate Sterling leading the way.”
