The line-up has been released for the 39th annual Robert Mondavi Winery Summer Concert Festival.
Founded by Margrit Biever Mondavi in 1969 as part of the winery’s commitment to supporting the arts, the Summer Festival has raised approximately $2 million during the past 39 years. The monies raised this year will continue to support the Napa Valley Symphony, Napa Valley Unified School District and Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
All concerts begin at 7 p.m. Here’s the 2008 schedule:
Saturday, July 5: Preservation Hall Jazz Band
In their 38th appearance at the Summer Music Festival, the swinging New Orleans jazz sounds of the band will be accompanied by a 4th of July fireworks display. Ticket prices: general admission, $55; reserve lawn seats, $85; VIP tickets, $200.
Saturday, July 12: Dave Koz and Special Guest David Benoit
With a career spanning two decades, pre-eminent jazz saxophonist Dave Koz has established himself as a platinum-selling artist, humanitarian, entrepreneur, radio host, instrumental music advocate and the recipient of six Grammy nominations. Special guest David Benoit — composer, pianist and five-time grammy nominee — will also perform. Ticket prices: general admission, $68; reserve lawn seats, $98; VIP tickets, $200.
Saturday, July 19: Tiempo Libre
Grammy-nominated Tiempo Libre is one the hottest young Latin bands today. Equally at home in concert halls, jazz clubs and dance venues, the Miami-based band has become known for its incendiary, joyful performances of timba — an irresistible, dance-inducing mix of high-voltage Latin jazz and the seductive rhythms of son — true modern heirs to the rich tradition of the music of their native Cuba. Saturday, July 26: Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo
Four time Grammy Award winner Pat Benatar, one of the top female rockers of the 1980s and early 1990s, will rock the stage with talented guitarist Neil Giraldo. Ticket prices: general admission, $75; reserve lawn seats, $105; VIP tickets, $200.
Saturday, August 2: UB40
Performing together for 30 years, British Reggae band UB40 will grace the stage for a special appearance. Attributed with popularizing reggae around the globe, this phenomenal band has created some of the world’s favorite reggae tunes. Ticket prices: general admission, $90; reserve lawn seats, $120; VIP tickets, $200.
