Founder and President-For-Life Randall Grahm has announced that Bonny Doon Vineyard will move its tasting room from rustic Bonny Doon to its urban winery at 328 Ingalls Street in Santa Cruz, Calif.
The newly expanded tasting room will open in late fall.
The Bonny Doon property has been sold to Beauregard Vineyards, a local family-owned winery and vineyard management company. The original tasting room at 10 Pine Flat Road in Bonny Doon will continue to operate until the new visitor facility at the winery is completed.
“The Bonny Doon tasting room has been a destination spot for nearly 25 years, as has our original site,” Grahm noted. “Now, more than ever, our goal is to make wines of significance with a vivid sense of place. Bonny Doon’s newly expanded winery tasting room will engage the most jaded imbiber by offering a richer and more complex tasting experience.”
Visitors to the new tasting room can expect a full immersion into a “Dooniverse” of possibilities as enhanced elements — including wine and food grudge matches, a verdant Biodynamic lounge, and vinous curriculum ad infinitum — serve as portals into the weird and wonderful world of Bonny Doon Vineyard.
“Our new winery-based Bonny Doon tasting room will continue to pour a complex array of unique wines, including the flagship Le Cigare Volant and our Ca’ del Solo Biodynamic estate wines,” added tasting room Manager Cindy Molchany.
Plans call for the 10 Pine Flat Road property to be sold to Beauregard Vineyards, recently recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of the best new American wineries of 2008. Bonny Doon Vineyard and Beauregard Vineyards currently are sharing the 10 Pine Flat facility. Beauregard will handle its production and tasting activities in the back building, while Bonny Doon continues to operate its tasting room in the front building.
Once Bonny Doon relocates to Ingalls Street, Beauregard will use the entire two-plus acre Bonny Doon property for all its operations.
Until the new winery tasting room is completed, the current Bonny Doon Vineyard tasting room at 10 Pine Flat Road in Bonny Doon is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
