If You Can't Drink It, Drive It

The European Union traditionally has set strict limits on wine production. If too much wine is made, the excess is not allowed to be sold on the market.

Simply dumping the extra vino would not exactly be environmentally friendly, however.

     What to do?

In some cases, the excess wine is transformed into fuel — specifically, bioethanol.

In fact, Prince Charles logs about 300 miles each summer on his Aston Martin Volante convertible, which runs on “repurposed” wine.
