The events may have been slower to sell out this year, but the 8th annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival set records for ticket sales, the Miami Herald reports.
More than 53,000 people attended the four-day event, generating $4 million in ticket sales, compared with $3.2 million for 2008. It should be noted that at least part of that increase came from higher ticket prices.
This year’s event raised $2 million for FIU’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center.
“Our fantastic sponsors and talent play a vital role in keeping this festival exciting and successful,” said festival founder and director Lee Brian Schrager. “It’s a testament to them that we are thriving during such a challenging time.”
The 2010 Food Network South Beach Wine & Food Festival is set for Feb. 25-28.
