Music Fills the Vineyards

Castello di Amorosa, a 12th century Tuscan-style castle winery, hosts international stars including Renee Fleming and Robert Redford at this year’s Napa Valley Festival del Sole, running through July 25.

One of the most distinctive summer festivals with world-class concerts, exclusive receptions, lunches and dinners, art exhibitions and adventurous programming, Napa Valley Festival del Sole is celebrating its fourth season in California’s beautiful wine country.

On July 21, award winning actor, producer and director Robert Redford, 14-year old violin sensation Chad Hoopes, conductor Alondra de la Parra and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas will visit the Castello for a concert featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s much-loved work, “The Four Seasons.” A portion of the proceeds from this concert will benefit the Redford Center.

The following night, Ms. de la Parra conducts the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas and renowned violinist Nikolaj Znaider in a program of Beethoven and Brahms.

And on July 23, soprano Renee Fleming makes her Festival del Sole debut in a recital at Castello di Amorosa, accompanied by the renowned conductor and pianist Antonio Pappano.

Also that evening, pianist Leif Ove Andsnes will perform Mussorgsky’s popular “Pictures in an Exhibition.” Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Napa Valley performing arts organizations.

“The lineup of artists at this year’s Festival del Sole is simply incredible,” said Dario Sattui, owner of Castello di Amorosa and V. Sattui wineries. “This is our third year of collaborating with the festival, and I’m amazed at the level of talent that graces the Napa Valley every year. We are honored to host some of the world’s top artists, and humbled that the Festival del Sole chose Castello di Amorosa as one its venues for this event.”

All performances will take place in the castle’s outdoor courtyard. Built with handmade, antique European bricks, the courtyard represents typical Italian castle architecture spanning the 10th through the 13th centuries, and provides an ideal acoustical venue for world-class music.

“For the fourth year running, Napa Valley Festival del Sole offers an exceptional blend of world-class artistry, five-star cuisine, fine wines and exceptional hospitality,” said festival director Richard Walker. “Artists and audiences are coming from all over the world to participate in this one-of-a-kind summer festival.”
