It is my sworn pledge to bring members of the wine clubs of Vinesse and visitors to VinesseTODAY.com information on where they can sample the gift of the grape — whether it’s in an established “wine country” locale or some other setting.
Today, I have two of those “some other setting” options for you.
Warning: The second one is just a few days away, so if you happen to live in or near Atlanta… or if you’ll be traveling to that fine city… you’ll need to act fast.
First things first…
On the weekend of November 14-15, the Tulalip Resort Casino — located about a half-hour north of Seattle, right off I-5 — will be hosting the Taste of Tulalip.
An all-encompassing ticket may be purchased, and an “a la carte” menu of specific events during the festival also is available.
Saturday’s Celebration Dinner ($200) will feature some of the finest dining in all of western Washington, accompanied by wine from top Washington producers.
On Sunday, the walk-around “Taste of Tulalip” ($45) will take place, giving guests four hours to nosh and sip.
There also will be lifestyle seminars ($45 each or two for $75), plus chef demonstrations during the “Taste.”
Additionally, the resort has overnight packages available. Call 866-716-7162 for further information.
Two thoughts come to mind about this event:
1) It’s well timed, since hardly anyone ever gets enough food during the month of November.
2) If one were to attend all of the events over the two days, they’d probably have trouble saying “Taste of Tulalip.”
For that second reason, an overnight package might be advisable.
The second event I’d like to tell you about is called Aqua Vino, and it’s a fundrasier for the Georgia Aquarium’s Veterinary Services & Conservation Medicine Initiative.
It will take place this coming Thursday — October 28 — with the aquarium itself providing a magnificent backdrop.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy tasting portions of food from Atlanta’s premier restaurants, and more than 200 wines will be available for sampling. There also will be live music, and since Aqua Vino is a fundraising event, both live and silent auctions will be featured.

Some are calling Aqua Vino the “cocktail chic” event of the season in Atlanta… and that’s no big fish story.
