The 19th annual Zinfandel Advocates & Producers Festival is less than three weeks away, and this year’s theme is “Zin in Paradise.”
In this case, “paradise” is defined as “Hawaii,” and the event – scheduled January 28-30 in San Francisco – will feature a dinner spotlighting Hawaiian regional cuisine.
Here’s a day-by-day look at what’s planned…
* January 28 – Good Eats & Zinfandel Pairing.
From 6 to 9 p.m. at Fort Mason Center, 50 restaurants will offer small bites to pair with dozens of Zinfandels crafted by an A-to-Z of wine estates – from Acorn Winery to Z-52.
* January 29 – Flights: A Showcase of Zinfandel.
A seated tasting of limited-production Zins, running from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel. Educational seminars also will be featured.
* Also January 29 – Evening With the Winemakers.
This is the aforementioned dinner, and a Zin winemaker will be seated at each table. There also will be a live auction. The Mark Hopkins Hotel is the venue.
* January 30 – Grand Zinfandel Tasting.
It’s back to Fort Mason for a three-hour Zin-tasting extravaganza, with more than 200 wineries pouring.
