Italy’s Casa Vinicola Zonin has received the 2010 Grand Vinitaly Award.
The award recognizes the winery with the most individual awards presented by the International Enological Concourse in conjunction with the Vinitaly wine fair. Casa Vinicola Zonin is the first Italian producer since 2005 to receive this prestigious accolade, which rewards the overall quality of a company’s entire production.
Upon learning the news, Gianni Zonin said, “I am absolutely delighted that CVZ has been recognized in this way, after 50 years of continuous efforts and incessant research in the pursuit of quality.”
The award was presented to Casa Vinicola Zonin after the jury had tasted 3,646 wines from 27 different countries. The choice was made based on the overall success of all of its wines in all categories of competition.
Giuseppe Martelli, Director General of the Association of Italian Enologists, noted, “For the eighteenth consecutive year, this prize has established itself as the most selective in the world.”
Casa Vinicola Zonin is Italy’s largest privately owned wine company, now in its seventh generation of operation by the Zonin family. The company owns estates in the most prominent wine producing regions of Italy: Tuscany, Friuli, Sicily, Puglia and Piedmont.
