Free the Grapes and Taste the Wine

In outlining this week’s list of postings for VinesseTODAY.com, I came across a handful of wonderful wine-tasting events, as well as one very disturbing bit of news.

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. Five years after the Supreme Court helped clear the way for a much more fair system of wine distribution, a few special interest groups are once again working with legislators to make it more difficult for us to enjoy our favorite beverage.

As a result, the “Free the Grapes!” organization has swung back into action to fuel consumer opposition to the restrictive legislation. We’re preparing a special report on the situation and will share it with you this coming Sunday – the same day a “Grape Liberation Toast” is planned across the country.

If you love wine – and I’m guessing you do since you’re visiting this Web site – I hope you’ll join with “Free the Grapes!” to keep the free flow of wine going in this country. We’ll have much more information for you on Sunday.

Meanwhile, we’re putting together some information on three very special wine-tasting events that are coming up – two in June, and one in September.

Tomorrow, check back for details on Sonoma Wine Country Weekend. On Wednesday, log on for info on a tasting conducted by The Tempranillo Advocates, Producers and Amigos Society. And on Thursday, visit us for details on a very special lot that will be up for bid at this year’s Auction Napa Valley. If you’re a fan of “Modern Family,” which is my favorite new show of the season, you won’t want to miss it.

Enjoy your week, and visit VinesseTODAY.com throughout the week for your daily dose of wine news, views and information from your friends at Vinesse.
