Extending the Summertime Wine Fun

Imagine floating on a raft – or a canoe or kayak – while listening to great jazz and blues music.

As if California’s North Coast wine country didn’t already offer enough diversions, the aforementioned scenario will present itself at the 34th annual Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival on the weekend of September 11-12.

This marks the second year that Omega Events has paired the two music genres in response to visitor suggestions. In the past, separate jazz and blues festivals were held.

The setting is unique, as organizers erect a stage over the edge of the Russian River at Johnson’s Beach & Resort in Guerneville, making it possible to enjoy the music by land or by sea – uh, make that river.

Of course, there will be plenty of wine available for sampling, as more than 40 wineries will be pouring their liquid wares at the International Food Court and Vendor Village.

The Labor Day weekend may mark the traditional end of the summer season, but that doesn’t mean we wine lovers must retreat inside.

The Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival keeps the summertime fun going… at least for one more week.
