We’re not sure whether Jim Morrison of The Doors was a wine drinker, but we do know he was a musician extraordinaire who probably indulged in some, uh, mood-enhancing activities.
In other words, he certainly should have loved wine and the irrefutable affinity between wine and music.
Were he still alive, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him hanging out at the Michel-Schlumberger estate outside Healdsburg, Calif., on Friday nights. Throughout the summer, Michel-Schlumberger – whose wines have been featured often by the wine clubs of Vinesse – has been hosting a Friday Night Music Series, featuring an eclectic array of performers.
There’s a modest $5 cover charge, guests are invited to bring a picnic, and from 5 to 8 p.m. some glorious sounds are heard in the winery’s private courtyard.
But be forewarned: Only three performances remain in 2010 – tonight, featuring the jazz sounds of Still Smooth; Oct. 8, featuring the folk and bluegrass music of Roadside Traditions; and Oct. 15, spotlighting the Latin sounds of the Carlos Herrera Band.
After that, the music’s over for 2010, and it’ll be time to… turn out the lights.
