SLO Is the Place to Be for Foodies

If you love good food and good wine (and if you don’t, why are you visiting this Web site?), consider heading to the Avila Beach Resort along California’s Central Coast next weekend.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5-7, the resort and local wineries will play host to the 2010 San Luis Obispo Rockin’ Harvest Celebration.

Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of the activities…

FRIDAY: A number of winemaker dinners will be held, as local restaurants team up with local wine estates to concoct menus offering great flavors and exceptional value.

SATURDAY: >From 12 noon to 3 p.m., the resort will host a Grand Tasting and Auction, at which guests can sample wine and food from more than 60 local wineries and restaurants, and bid on an array of lifestyle auction lots. There even will be music, provided by a band of local vintners known as the Crush Tones.

SUNDAY: Explore the region on your own as the wineries open their doors and cellars. Many will be providing samples of wines seldom, if ever, available in their tasting rooms.
