After years of planning, the Finger Lakes Wine Center has opened its doors in Ithaca, New York.
The center makes a good first stop for any wine lover who has planned a trip to the Finger Lakes area, where more than 100 wineries dot the landscape. There are plenty of helpful maps and brochures, along with a knowledgeable and helpful staff.
But the Wine Center actually was developed with another “public” in mind: visitors to the area who do not have a set-in-stone itinerary. The idea is for the center to motivate those folks to spend a day (or two) visiting the wineries.
For visitors and locals alike, the center offers themed wine classes each Wednesday evening for a nominal fee.
Additional information on the classes and what the center has to offer is available at the center’s website: www.fingerlakes.org
