Valentine’s Day has come and gone for another year, but romance remains in the air thanks to the folks at Korbel Champagne Cellars.
As a Korbel spokesperson pointed out, romance is in every city in America because in every town there are stories of first loves, first kisses and special memories.
This was evident by the hundreds of cities that were nominated in a contest hosted by Korbel to find the “Most Romantic City in America.” After all the entries had been assessed, the North Carolina town of Boone was selected as the winner. (Cue the Marvin Gaye CD!)
Twenty finalists were chosen from among all the stories submitted, which wasn’t an easy task due to all the wonderful, romantic cities suggested. As the list of finalists shows, it doesn’t always take a big city or well known town to be a “romantic” locale…
Block Island, RI
Ft. Worth, TX
Gold Beach, OR
Hood River, OR
New Orleans, LA
New York, NY
Ocean City, NJ
St. Augustine, FL
The winning city was nominated by Jaima Walker of Orlando Fla., after visiting Boone with her boyfriend.
For submitting the winning location, Walker will receive her own romantic trip for two to Sonoma County, Calif., the home of Korbel Champagne Cellars. The trip includes airfare, accommodations for four days and three nights, gourmet dining and a VIP tour of Korbel’s historic cellars and exquisite gardens.
P.S.: What you might not know about Boone is that it is “wine country,” too. To learn more, visit: http://www.visitboonenc.com
