Downtown Chicago’s cultural scene, already among the most diverse and vibrant in the country, will become even more so late this year when New York concert promoter Michael Dorf brings City Winery to town.
Juice will be shipped from such revered West Coast appellations as Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Santa Barbara County and Oregon’s Willamette Valley, fermented on-site and served on-site.
Plans call for two wine bars, an event space with room for 350, and two private dining rooms with views of the fermentation tanks and aging barrels.
The facility will take up 21,000 square feet of the former Carson Pirie Scott department store building on the eastern edge of Chicago’s famous Loop.
