It has been a long time since the Southern California city of Long Beach had a place for people to see and be seen.
A “be seen scene” requires a cool atmosphere, a good location and, of course, good wine.
The Wine Down Lounge has it all.
Located on the lobby level of the historic Breakers Building in the heart of the downtown area, the Wine Down Lounge is an extension of The Sky Room, and features more than 30 wines by the glass, along with a menu of small plates to complement the wines.
Among the early promotions was a Sunday-through-Friday “Happy Hour” offering selected wines by the glass for $4. On Tuesdays, $6 glasses of rosé wine have been available throughout the day. And on Saturdays, guests could enjoy “Flights and Bites”–a sampling of four wines and four paired “bites” for just $12.
The wine bar has been open for a few weeks, but its “grand opening weekend” is still to come: June 3-5.
On that Friday and Saturday, complimentary tapas will be served. Friday night also will feature live music.
