It’s wine festival season across the country, and here’s some quick info on three events–one that’s imminent, one that’s semi-imminent, and one that isn’t imminent…
- IMMINENT: The 6th annual Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival is set for this Saturday (June 18) on Weko Beach in Bridgman, Mich. It’s a great opportunity to taste locally-produced wines (and Michigan vintners make some good ones), nosh on food from area restaurants, and enjoy some live music–all the ingredients for a fun-filled day. On the music side, five different acts are scheduled beginning at 1 p.m. The headliner, taking the stage at 8:30 p.m., is a group called P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend. - SEMI-IMMINENT: Remember that restaurant in a museum that we told you about yesterday? Well, how about a wine festival at a museum? On Saturday, June 25, the Santa Barbara Wine Festival will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Some 70 wineries from California’s Central Coast growing region will be on hand to pour samples of and answer questions about their wares. The cost is $95 at the door (if available), or $85 if purchased by the day before. Click here for event information.

NOT IMMINENT: Aug. 25-28, Vevay, Ind., will play host to the 2011 Swiss Wine Festival, which this year is celebrating the 200th birthday of the first commercial vintage of wine in America.
Among the activities planned over the event’s four-day run:- Polka music and dancing (!)
- Riverboat cruises
- Canoe racing
- Fireworks
- Antiques, arts, crafts and Amish goods
- Grape stomps
- Wine tasting
Admission to the festival’s Wine Pavilion is $13 per person, or $25 per couple, and includes a souvenir glass.
