Wine is not mentioned in the name of the new steakhouse at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The restaurant, which is located in the space formerly occupied by Rare 120, is called 35 Steaks + Martinis. You can view the menu here.
Martinis are not the only libations one can sip at 35, however. There’s also a very good wine list that includes the kind of full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon choices you’d expect from a serious steakhouse.
And since this is the Hard Rock, that list also includes “wines that rock”—specifically Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin labels.
I’ve had the Pink Floyd Cabernet before, and it’s not bad. But the label—featuring artwork from “The Dark Side of the Moon”—makes the bottle a keeper. I have not had the Led Zeppelin wine, but I’m planning on checking it out the next time I’m in Vegas.
There is no shortage of great restaurants in Las Vegas, circa 2011. The city once known for 50-cent shrimp cocktails and cheap buffets now is home to some of the finest restaurants in the world, many of which were conceived by top-name celebrity chefs.
And now, for the rockers among us, there’s a steakhouse where, for at least one meal, we can dine with Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.
Talk about a rock-and-rock fantasy…
