The Patrick Swayze Wine Experience

Actor Patrick Swayze lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 14, 2009, but his memory lives on all this month at Oreana Winery in downtown Santa Barbara, Calif.

Each Monday in June, Christian Garvin and company are playing host to the Patrick Swayze Film Festival. Folding chairs are set up inside the winery (guests may also bring their own beach chairs, bean bags, etc.), a movie is played, and guests can enjoy Oreana wine as well as popcorn and candy.

(Who knows—perhaps some new classic pairing partners will be identified. How about some Barbera with that Butterfinger bar? Or perhaps some Syrah with that Snickers bar?)

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. (and so does the bar), and the film of the week begins at 7:30. The festival kicked off last week with a screening of “Point Break,” and continues this evening with “Red Dawn.”

Then on June 18, the classic “Dirty Dancing” will be featured, followed on the 25th by the not-so-classic “Roadhouse.”

Admission is free, but the folks at Oreana would appreciate it if you purchased a glass of wine or two. Not to mention some popcorn and candy.

If you can’t make it to Oreana this month but don’t want to miss the “Patrick Swayze wine experience,” perhaps a Patrick Swayze wine goblet would suffice. I bet you’d be the only one on your block to own one…
