New Arthritis Fighter: Wine

How much wine do you drink in a given week?

A glass? Two? Three?

If three was your answer, congratulations! You are at much less risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis than people who do not.

Here are the exact statistics, as reported in the British Medical Journal: Women who regularly partake of at least three alcoholic drinks per week for 10 years are 52 percent less likely to develop arthritis than those who do not drink at all.

A detailed story about the findings can be found here.

Of course, the usual precautions apply: Drinking too much alcohol of any kind can cause serious medical problems. In report after report, doctors and scientists stress that moderate consumption is the key to deriving health benefits.

And now, another benefit of modern wine consumption has been revealed. So, enjoy that glass of vino with dinner tonight. Chances are that it’s not only good, but also good for you.
