“Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.”
Was it really Albert Einstein who made that observation? That’s what my handy, dandy book of quotes indicates.
Regardless, it’s a reminder that we get a whole lot more out of life when we just… slow down… and pay attention. A good glass of wine can be a great tool in that endeavor.
Whether you live on the West Coast or East Coast, or perhaps are planning a trip to one or the other, wine-tasting opportunities abound… if you take the time to look for them.
Here are just two “wine-down” ideas for you to consider… one on each coast…
- West—On one route to California’s Sonoma Coast, the tiny town of Duncans Mills offers travelers a chance to stretch their legs and browse eclectic shops.
And when the clock strikes 4 on Friday afternoons, it’s “happy hour” time at Sophie’s Cellars, featuring wine by the taste or glass, plus an array of cheeses, fresh-baked breads, and chocolates to enjoy.
For directions and other information, visit Sophie’s website.
- East—The North Fork of New York’s Long Island is home to several excellent wineries, including Shinn Estate Vineyards and Farmhouse
It’s the Farmhouse that really sets Shinn apart, providing a true country getaway with a fabulous breakfast included. After chowing down, one is mere steps from the Shinn tasting room.
Visit Shinn online for more info.
Remember, wine-tasting opportunities can be found in places you’d never expect. You just have to keep your eyes open… except when kissing, of course.
