Armchair Quarterbacking… With a Glass of Wine

Did you watch golf or football on TV over the weekend?

Millions of people in America did.

So what does wine have to do with those two sports? Well, for one thing, a number of figures from golf and football have gotten involved with their own wine labels.

In 2010, for instance, Terlato Wines and golf legend Jack Nicklaus announced a partnership with a line of Napa Valley wines. The inaugural bottlings of Jack Nicklaus Cabernet Sauvignon and Private Reserve (2007) from California’s Napa Valley were uncorked by Nicklaus at a private event held at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in Scotland, regarded as the birthplace of golf.

Greg Norman is among other golfers with his own wine label.

In 2012, Terlato partnered with football legend Mike Ditka to produce a collection of wines that recognize him as a Player, a Coach, a Hall of Famer and a Restaurateur.

Joe Montana is among others from the world of football who produce their own wines.

Whether you were cheering for Tiger Woods in the Presidents Cup or your favorite team on the gridiron, there’s one thing that golf and football have in common: Both go very well with wine.
