Live Music Festival Returns to Long Island Wine Country

The winegrowers of Long Island have really hit their stride since the turn of the millennium, with an array of bottlings that have claimed attention on the global wine stage.

And like farmers around the world, more and more of Long Island’s grape growers are embracing sustainable practices. In fact, they now include a comprehensive, easy-to-understand primer on sustainability on their website. Check it out here.

Long Island wine country also is becoming more and more popular as a tourist destination, and for the past six years, a music festival there has helped introduce the area to tens of thousands of people. Here is a media release on the 2014 festival…

“Live on the Vine” returns as the theme for the 2014 Long Island Winterfest.

This year’s event will include not only Jazz music, but also blues, soul, rock, country and more. Through March 16, visit the East End of Long Island to enjoy truly exceptional live music performances in winery tasting rooms.

Live on the Vine takes place in Long Island’s unique vineyard tasting rooms, hotels and other venues on the East End. Conceived in 2006, this event is well on its way to becoming a regional and even national attraction with great growth potential. In 2012, Winterfest Jazz on the Vine, as it was then known, was awarded the National Destination Marketing Award by Americans for the Arts and Destination Marketing International.

Make plans to come to Long Island Wine Country this winter, where outstanding musicians join with local vineyards, hotels, B&Bs, restaurants, cultural venues and attractions to create an array of special events and offers designed to lift the mid-winter doldrums.
