The 2014 edition of the Orange County Fair is winding down, but there’s still one weekend remaining to take in a seminar conducted by the Orange County Wine Society.
The Society does a great job running the annual Orange County Fair Wine Competition — one of the largest in the country — as well as serving wine and educating the public at the fair’s Courtyard area. Fair-goers can enjoy a glass of vino from a pre-set list, sample an array of award-winning bottlings, learn about home winemaking or attend a seminar.
Here’s a look at the remaining seminar schedule for 2014:
- Saturday, August 9 at 3 p.m. — Wine and Cheese Pairing. Includes a souvenir Riedel wine glass, a 2014 awards book, samples of eight wines and assorted cheese snacks. $30.
- Saturday, August 9 at 5 p.m. — Cabernet Sauvignon. Includes a souvenir Riedel wine glass, a 2014 awards book, samples of eight wines and assorted snacks. $25.
Sunday, August 10 at 3 p.m. — 4-Star Gold. Includes a souvenir Riedel wine glass, a 2014 awards book, samples of eight wines that earned 4-Star Gold awards this year and assorted snacks. $30.
- Sunday, August 10 at 5 p.m. — Zinfandel. Includes a souvenir Riedel wine glass, a 2014 awards book, samples of eight wines and assorted snacks. $25.
You can also “sample” wine inside the fairgrounds’ Los Alamitos Building, which houses the fair’s visual arts gallery. Keep your eyes open, and you’ll find works of art like those shown here.
The theme of the 2014 Orange County Fair is “Summer Begins Here.” But this year’s fair is about to end, so don’t miss your chance to take in the sights, sounds… and sips.
